"I have been seeing Penny Welke for many months for chronic pain from Rheumatoid Arthritis, headaches, stress and overall extremely tense muscles...Since going to Penny regularly, my pain has lessened greatly, I get fewer headaches and range of motion is getting better with time. I highly recommend Penny, and Serenity Massage. I will never go elsewhere!!"
— Karen

"When my stress level is a bit much, I know it's time to call Penny. She definitely takes pride in reducing your pain or stress level. Your aches and pains are no more! She is WONDERFUL and I couldn't recommend her more! Go see her!!!!"
— Jeremy

"With being a client of Penny's for over five years, I feel it's time I lauded her talents as a massage therapist. Nearing 70 years old, I find it takes much longer to recover from physical activity such as shoveling snow, yard work and gardening. The brunt of my discomfort is in my upper back and shoulders along with my calves. Penny concentrates her massage there working out the knots in my muscles. After she provides relief to those areas, she continues the massage with the aim of relaxation. Not only is she successful in relieving the soreness in my problem areas, but her softer massage brings complete relaxation to the point that I've been known to occasionally doze off. I have no reservations in recommending Penny to anyone looking for a therapeutic and/or relaxing massage."

We also are offering facials.

Bamboo Massage

Experience the ultimate in relaxation and rejuvenation!

Heated bamboo massage is a technique for anyone who needs some serious deep-tissue bodywork for overworked and injured muscles. I will use several different warmed pieces of compressed bamboo to work the tension out of each muscle. Long fluid strokes in different styles like Swedish, deep tissue, trigger-point therapy are used to stretch and compress the muscle and tissue.

With warm bamboo massage the results go deeper and last longer than other massage techniques. And the best part is that it feels great! Whether your tight muscles are caused by stress, exercise, injury, or simply sitting at the computer all day, a warm bamboo massage will melt away even your most stubborn knots and tension. You'll feel refreshed, rejuvenated, and renewed - A sensation that will last longer after the massage is over.

Heated bamboo massage incorporates the use of oil and/or lotion to allow for smooth, long strokes and varying levels of pressure. The client will feel a seamless transition form hands to bamboo and back to hands again.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness and sore shoulders. People often notice improved range of motion immediately after a deep tissue massage.

Some of the strokes are used as classic massage therapy but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain in order to read the sub-layer of muscles and the fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles).

Trigger Point Massage

Many people suffer from sensitive spots in the muscle, often called trigger points or muscle knots. A "trigger" is a tight area within a muscle tissue that causes pain in other parts of the body. A trigger point in the back, for example, they reduced referral pain in the neck. The pain may be sharp, intense or dull ache.

Results and benefits of trigger point therapy are releasing constricted areas in the muscle to alleviate pain. Receiving massage trigger point therapy on a regular basis can help manage your pain and stress from chronic pain or injuries.

Swedish/Relaxation Massage

Relaxation and Swedish massages typically involve a lot of long, sweeping strokes with some kneading or compression techniques and are often used on the entire body. They are designed to be relaxing and beneficial for all kinds of systems in your body.

Relaxation massage is essentially the same as a gentle Swedish massage that uses smooth, gliding stokes. The primary purpose will be to help you relax. Therapist will probably use slower movement and use light pressure.
During a relaxation massage there is less emphasis on working out serious adhesions or knots in the muscle tissue and the therapist on't push your main limits in order to get the muscle to release. Sometimes people even fall asleep during a relaxation massage.

This type of massage is beneficial for the body to receive on a regular basis as a way of achieving optimal health and well-being, and in times of stress when it would be helpful for you to take some time for yourself to breath deeply and enjoy something that feels good!

Hot Stone Massage

Using warm stones enhances the relaxation and soothing of the muscles in the massage. The heat opens up the muscles for the effects of deep tissue massage without pressure. Warm stones help detox as they utilize the swedish massage techniques to smooth and release sore muscles. The heated stones are remarkable for stiffness in the joints. They pull toxic impurities from the body and reduce water retention. The massage will leave you rejuvenated, relaxed, and stress-free.

Pregnancy/Prenatal Massage

Massage therapy during pregnancy is a wonderful complementary choice for prenatal care. It is a healthy way to reduce stress and promote overall wellness. massage relieves many of the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancies, such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches, and edema (swelling).

Pre-natal massage shares many of the goals of regular massage - to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and just make you feel good. But it's also tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies.
